If you want to work, study, or pursue a professional career in the Netherlands, you may need to prove your Dutch language skills. While different language certificates may be accepted in some situations, the NT2 State Exam is the qualification most often required.

NT2

The NT2 exam can be taken at two levels:

  • B1 level (Programma I)
  • B2 level (Programma II)

The exam assesses four language skills, and all sections are completed on a computer:

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Writing

Candidates are allowed to use a monolingual Dutch dictionary during the Reading and Writing sections of the exam.
